FUN FACT: It is believed the word "posh" stems from the ticketing code used by the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company on their routes between England and India. The best view from ship on the way out of port was from the Port side. On the return trip, the best view was from the Starboard side. The tickets actually read, "Port Out, Starboard Home." In the interests of saving space on the ticket, the company simply stamped "POSH" on them. You could tell someone was moneyed up if they had a POSH ticket. <source>
